- Women’s Social Entrepreneurship Program — Push Cart Project
REWA launched its first Push Cart Project to give underprivileged individuals — many of them women supporting their families — a sustainable, dignified source of livelihood. Rather than one-time financial assistance, the project was designed to create ongoing, self-sustaining income.
Within the first month of operation, cart holders were already seeing promising and steady earnings, a strong early signal that the model could scale into a longer-term livelihood program rather than remaining a pilot.
How REWA Made an Impact
This project embodies a philosophy that runs through all of REWA’s women’s empowerment work: dignity comes through self-reliance, not sustained charity. Rather than simply providing aid, REWA equipped participants with a working business asset and the ongoing support to make it succeed.
With continued donor and community support, REWA aims to expand this livelihood model to reach significantly more families — turning a single pilot cart project into a scalable pathway toward financial independence for underprivileged women across Bangalore.
