Carelessness on the road doesn’t just bounce back — it shatters lives. REWA’s Road Safety Awareness initiative addresses this directly by pasting radium stickers on bicycles, dramatically improving visibility for cyclists riding near highways after dark.
This isn’t a large or expensive program, but it’s a deliberate one — REWA identified a specific, preventable cause of night-time accidents among cyclists and built a low-cost, high-impact intervention to address it directly.
How REWA Made an Impact
The initiative reflects something REWA has learned repeatedly in its community work: the most effective interventions aren’t always the most expensive ones. A radium sticker costs very little, but for a cyclist riding home after dark on an unlit highway, it can be the difference between being seen by an oncoming vehicle and not.
