Digital Literacy Bootcamp

For many underprivileged youth in Pune, a computer is something they’ve seen but rarely touched. This weekend-long intensive, held at REWA’s E-Learning Center, is designed to change that — giving participants their first real, hands-on experience with essential digital skills.

Over the course of the bootcamp, volunteer trainers walk students through the fundamentals: basic computer operation, safe internet use, typing, and navigating common office tools like word processors and spreadsheets. The pace is kept deliberately gentle for first-time users, with plenty of one-on-one support built in rather than a lecture-style format.

The goal isn’t just technical familiarity — it’s job-readiness. Many of the students who complete this bootcamp go on to use these skills for filling out job applications, accessing online government services, or continuing their education through REWA’s ongoing E-Learning Center programs. For some, this single weekend becomes the moment their relationship with technology shifts from intimidation to confidence.

Volunteers with any level of tech comfort are welcome to help — you don’t need to be an IT professional, just patient and willing to explain things one step at a time to someone seeing it for the first time.
