Purulia, 15 October, 2015: On the occasion of Bharat Ratan Late Dr. Abdul Kalam’s Birth Day (15 th October), Raise Empower Women Around (REWA) organised an event for the unprivileged kids of Purulia, West Bengal. On the occasion REWA intended to help more than 50 children by providing food, hygiene, new clothes and shoes, school bags, and stationery items.
The chief guest of the event was IPS Avadesh Pathak, “This is an admirable initiative by REWA and I am honored to be a part of it. Children are the future of the country, as it has been reiterated constantly by almost everyone, but so many children lack basic necessities to help them develop psychologically as well as physically.
Today what REWA did –providing clothes, bags and food to these kids- was not only a heart- warming gesture, but was also a much needed action for the benefit of underprivileged children albeit on a small scale. I hope we can learn something from this and help wide scale development of India’s children,” commented MR Pathak on the event.
As a return gift; sweets, chocolates and crackers were handed out to the children for them to enjoy during Deepavali.
